Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik
President & CEO
Air Marshal Arshad Mahmood Malik is a nominated Director since October 17, 2018. He was subsequently elected as President & CEO on October 26, 2018 and Chairman on December 28, 2018. Before joining PIA, Air Marshal Malik was Vice Chief of the Air Staff (VCAS) of Pakistan Air Force (PAF). During his career in PAF, he has flown various trainer and fighter aircraft; and, commanded a fighter squadron, a flying wing, an operational air base and a regional air command. He has also overseen and coordinated the development/manufacturing of JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft. Air Marshal Malik has served as Chairman of Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Kamra. His staff appointments include Personal Staff Officer to Chief of the Air Staff, Director Operations Project, Director Operational Requirement and Development, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (OR&D), Chief Project Director JF-17, and Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (Personnel) at Air Headquarters. He is a graduate of Combat Commanders’ School, Air War College, National Defence University and Air Command and Staff College, United States of America. In recognition of his meritorious services, he had been awarded Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military), Sitara-i-Imtiaz (Military) and Tamgha-i-Imtiaz (Military). He is Member of PIACL Board Finance Committee, Board HR & Compensation Committee, Board Procurement Committee as well as Board COE Committee.
Mr Noor Ahmed
Secretary Economic Affairs Division
Mr Noor Ahmed, Secretary Economic Affairs Division, is a nominated Director since November 9, 2018. He holds Development Studies with a specialization in Public Policy from Institute of Social Studies, Netherlands. Prior to his current assignment, he has served as Special Secretary Finance focusing on fiscal, monitory and treasury management and Additional Secretary External Finance managing external account of the government and arranging fiscal resources to bridge the balance of payment gap. Mr Ahmed has also served as Additional Secretary of External Finance; Regulations, Litigation and IGF; and, Corporate Finance in Finance Division. He remained Director General at Privatization Commission. Mr Ahmed has also worked at Khushhali Bank and served as Vice President, SME Bank (formerly SBFC).
Mr. Atif Aslam Bajwa
Mr. Atif Aslam Bajwa is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. Mr. Bajwa is a graduate from Columbia University, New York, USA. He is a seasoned banker and has over 30 years of diverse national and international banking experience. He started his career in 1982 with Citibank, Karachi, and worked on various senior level positions. Mr. Bajwa has worked for ABN AMRO Bank in Pakistan, Singapore and Amsterdam. He has served as President and Chief Executive Officer of MCB Bank Limited, Soneri Bank Limited as well as Bank Alfalah Limited. He has also served as President of Abu Dhabi Group. He has previously served PIACL as one of its First Directors. Mr. Bajwa is on the Board of PIA Investments Limited. He is Chairman of PIACL Board Audit Committee and Member of Board Finance Committee.
Mr Naveed Kamran Baloch
Secretary Finance Division
Mr Naveed Kamran Baloch, Secretary Finance Division, is a nominated Director on PIACL Board since May 24, 2019. He holds MSc. Degree in Social Policy and Planning in Developing Countries from London School of Economics, UK. He is a Certified Director from Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance. Mr Naveed Kamran Baloch joined Civil Service of Pakistan in 1985. He has vast professional experience in senior management positions in diversified fields such as public sector management, administration, financial, judicial, health, insurance and planning etc. Prior to his current assignment, Mr Naveed Kamran Baloch has served as Secretary Cabinet Division and Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He remained Federal Secretary Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation & Coordination. He has also served as Chairman of Country Coordinating Mechanism (CCM) Pakistan. He also held the position of Chairman State Life Insurance Corporation of Pakistan. Mr Naveed Kamran Baloch has extensively attended local and international professional training courses, workshops, seminars and conferences. He is Ex-officio Chairman of PIACL Board Finance Committee.
Mr. Farrukh H Khan
Mr. Farrukh H Khan is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant from the UK. He has also done BA (Hons.) in Economics and Finance from the University of Manchester. He is Senior Director Business Development of Acumen, and has been a member of Management Committee of the firm. With over 25 years of senior management and Board level experience, Mr. Khan was the Founding Partner and CEO of BMA Capital Management Limited. He has an excellent network and knowledge of business in Middle East and South Asia. He has previously served as President of Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce & Industry (OICCI), Chairman of the Young Presidents’ Organization, Pakistan Chapter; and also served on boards of few other public and private sector organizations. He has worked with American Express Bank in Pakistan and Deloitte in London. He was selected by Euromoney as one of the top 50 global financial leaders, below age of 40 years. His philanthropic interests include children’s health and education. He is Member of PIACL Board Audit Committee as well as HR & Compensation Committee.
Mr. Tariq Kirmani
Mr. Tariq Kirmani is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. He holds Masters Degree in Business Administration. He started his career with a multinational oil company (Caltex – later Chevron Pakistan) in 1969. He worked for 7 years in the United States (US), United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Australia in senior management positions in Marketing, Operations and Finance. In 1991, Mr. Kirmani became the first Pakistani to be elected as a Director of the company. In April 1999, he joined Pakistan State Oil (PSO) as Deputy Managing Director and went on to become the Managing Director in July 2001. The Government of Pakistan (GoP) appointed Mr. Kirmani as Chairman & CEO, Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIAC) in April 2005 where he served for 2 years. Mr. Kirmani has previously served on a number of Boards of multinational and public sector companies which included Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL), Pakistan State Cement Corporation (PSCC), Pakistan Telecommunications Limited (PTCL), Pakistan Private Infrastructure Board (PPIB), Board of Governors LUMS and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP). Currently, he is serving as Chairman of United Bank Limited Fund Managers, National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA), Greenstar Social Marketing (GSM) and Punjab Energy Holding Company (Pvt.) Ltd. (PEHCL). He is also serving as a Director on the Board of Professional Education Foundation (PEF), Family Education Services Foundation (FESF) and serving as an Advisor to the Board of Gas & Oil Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. (GO). He is Chairman of PIACL Board HR & Compensation Committee and Member of Board Audit Committee as well as COE Committee.
Mr. Navaid H. Malik
Mr. Navaid H. Malik is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. He had obtained his Bachelors Degree from FC College, Lahore and did varied courses in Hotel Management and Aviation Management from USA. Mr. Malik has an extensive Senior Management experience in airline catering and hospitality industry. He remained President of renowned Maxim’s de Paris of France. He has a vast experience in airline industry with PanAm, Air Malta, Caledonian Airlines, Emirates Airlines and Singapore International Airlines (SIA) where he has also served on the Board. He also served as nominee Director SIA holding company. He is the Principal Advisor to one of the largest investment and asset management companies in the Middle East. Mr. Malik has been Adviser on Tourism to Government of Pakistan. He is on the Advisory Committee of International Hotel Association (IHA); as well as International Associate of American Hotel & Motel Association (AH&MA). He has served as a Council Member of World Tourism Organization (WTO); Committee Member of International Hospitality and Leisure Association (IHLA). He keenly takes part in communal and philanthropic activities. He is Chairman of PIACL Board COE Committee and Member of Board Finance Committee as well as HR & Compensation Committee.
Mr Haque Nawaz
Mr Haque Nawaz is a nominated Director since November 20, 2017. He holds Masters degree in Business Administration as well as in Chemistry. He is a retired civil servant and has held various positions in Pakistan Audit Department, Finance Division, as well as in the international organizations. His last assignment was Acting Auditor General of Pakistan. Before that, he served as Additional Secretary Finance. Mr Haque Nawaz also served in Pakistan Military Accounts Department and in Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Chief Accounts Officer and Director Foreign Audit. He served the United Nations on secondment in UN Peacekeeping Mission at Kosovo. As UN staff member, he worked as Regional Finance Officer, Municipal Administrator and Program Management Officer. Mr Haque Nawaz has represented the Federal Government / Finance Division on the Boards of Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Civil Aviation Authority, Overseas Pakistani Foundation, Pak-Libya Holding Company and Pakistan State Oil Company Limited. He has travelled extensively and has attended several training programs, seminars and professional courses besides conducting audit of Pakistan’s Missions abroad. He is Member of PIACL Board Audit Committee, Finance Committee as well as Procurement Committee.
Sqn. Ldr. (Retd) Shahrukh Nusrat
Sqn. Ldr. (Retd) Shahrukh Nusrat is Secretary of Aviation Division, Chairman of the Board of PCAA and a nominated Director of PIACL Board since January 02, 2019. He holds BSc Avionics degree. He began his career by joining Pakistan Air Force as a Fighter Pilot in 1979 and served till the rank of Squadron Leader. He joined Civil Services of Pakistan in 1993 and served as Assistant Commissioner, Kohat; Assistant Political Agent, Orakzi Agency, FATA; PSO to Principal Secretary to Prime Minister; Director, Agriculture, Industries and Labour; Additional Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad; Deputy Secretary (Political/External), Ministry of Interior; Deputy Secretary, Public Affairs Wing, Prime Minister Secretariat; Director Estate Federal Government Employees Housing Foundation (FGEHF); Joint Secretary, M/o Labour& Manpower; Director General Pakistan Electronic Medial Regulatory Authority (PEMRA); and National Vocational & Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC); Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHAF); Managing Director, Overseas Employment Corporation (OEC); Additional Secretary, Cabinet Division; and Federal Secretary, Ministry of Textile; and Ministry of Climate Change before being posted as Secretary Aviation Division.
Mr. Muhammad Ali Tabba
Mr. Muhammad Ali Tabba is a nominated Director since June 7, 2017. He is Chief Executive of Lucky Cement Limited. He also serves as CEO of Yunus Textile Mills Ltd (YTM) and is Vice Chairman of board of ICI Pakistan Limited. He started his career with YBG, one of the premier business houses in Pakistan with diversified in Cement, Chemicals, Energy, Textile and Real Estate Development. MrTabba also serves on the Board of Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP). He is a Trustee of Fellowship Fund for Pakistan (FFFP). He is on the Board of Pakistan Business Council (PBC), Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) as well as Pakistan-India Joint Business Council (PIJBC). He has also served as Chairman of All Pakistan Cement Manufacturing Association (APCMA). He is Vice Chairman of Aziz Tabba Foundation which runs Tabba Heart Institute (THI) as well as Tabba Kidney Institute (TKI). World Economic Forum (WEF) bestowed upon Mr. Tabba the title of ‘Young Global Leader’ in 2010. He is also a recipient of ‘Businessman of the Year’ gold medal award for 2012-2013 from Karachi Chamber of Commerce. He is Member of PIACL Board Procurement Committee.
