PIA Training Centre is a three-storey air- conditioned building with covered area: 52,200 sq. ft. Training facilities available within the PIA Training Centre include, Aircraft Cabin Mockup, Cock-pit Systems Simulators (used in the transition and recurrent training of pilots and other operational crew), Grooming Room, SABRE System (Reservation/Check-in), Laboratories, Library, and Workshops. Classrooms are equipped with latest training aids. In 1992, PIA introduced Computer Based Training (CBT) facility, containing various courses for specific aircraft for training its engineering, cabin and cockpit crew. PTC has initiated in house the development of Computer Based Training (CBT) of all aircrafts for Flight Operations Training. It is an indigenous effort of PTC. In 1994, PIA Training Centre introduced advanced course in Quality Management- TQM and ISO-9000 certification. Advance Computer Courses have also been introduced for PIA employees and personnel from other organization.

UTILIZATION OF TRAINING FACILITIES 
(INTERNATIONAL)

Major Airlines, including:

Emirates, Saudi Airlines, Royal Jordanian Airlines, Iran Air, Kuwait Air, Libyan Arab Airlines,

Air Malta, Scandinavian Airlines, Royal Nepal Airlines, Al-Buraq Air Libya.

No Accommodation Facility for trainees is currently available at PTC. Trainees are expected to make their own arrangements for boarding and lodging. The hotel rates vary from USD 50 to USD 70 per day.

AUDITORIUM:

PTC Auditorium with the seating capacity of 150 audiences is a centrally air-conditioned facility. It is well equipped with multimedia, Wi-Fi and sound system. It is used for various activities such as seminars, lectures, award ceremonies and other corporate events. In addition, to cater the corporation’s requirements PTC Auditorium is offered for third party trainings and private corporate events.

MOCKUP:

PIA Training Center has PCAA (Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority) approved Mock Up facility, which is used for operator’s evacuation drills and third-party trainings.
Mock Up consists of B777 and A320 cabin training devices and B 777 training evacuation slide. This facility is also used for Aviation First Aid and Security LRBL (Least Risk Bomb Location) trainings.

MINI AIRPORT:

Mini Airport is used for trainings of newly inducted employees of Passenger Services Division. This gives fresh trainees a feel of job at an airport. After going through class room trainings, scenarios and case studies are taught at mini airport regarding;

  1. Piece & Weight Concepts of Free Baggage Allowance
  2. Dangerous Goods Regulations
  3. Check in Systems
  4. Customer Services
  5. Excess Baggage Ticket (EBT)

Besides, Mini Airport provides hands on training to the newly inducted employees before going live on systems at the Airports.

PCAA APRROVED ROOMS:

PTC has a total number of 55 classes out of which 23 are PCAA Approved (with the capacity of 24 and 28, for Type and Basic engineering courses). All classrooms are equipped with computers, multimedia projectors and all required training aids. They are fully air conditioned and provide a comfortable environment to all trainees.

PTC INFORMATION RESOURCE CENTRE (IRC)

PTC Information Resource Centre (Library) plays a vital role in providing information on the courses conducted at PIA Training Center as per requirement of any Aviation Industry. It is fully computerized resource room equipped with computers and Wi-Fi. These facilities are available for both trainees and instructors
IRC (Library) can accommodate 25 students for individual and group study. It provides its readers over 5000 books (technical and non-technical) literature to instructors such as engineering change orders, service bulletins, technical notices, service letter, evaluation notices, services information bulletins, amendments of overall manuals, maintenance manuals, PCAA literature, ICAO & IATA literature and amendments of all aircrafts’ manuals. We have received the latest Boeing 777 A/C, 320 A/C & ATR A/C Literature as well. To complement IRC has an online access to local and international magazines and journals also.

CAFETERIA

PTC cafeteria is air conditioned can accommodate approx 150 persons and is used for official lunch, refreshment and is furnished with fine dining facilities. It provides quality food and refreshments for employees, trainees and visitors at reasonable rates.

PHYSICAL FITNESS

In Physiology Lab, physiological guidance is provided to all PIA employees with the help of posture balancing equipment which is installed on the 2nd floor of PTC for the use of all employees of PIA.
The objective of this lab is to provide guidance to enhance the alacrity and how to improve the ability to express one self and to coordinate body and mind functions. To bring about the awareness is to achieve a high level of unity of mind and body in a disciplined environment. The aim is to achieve a high level serene attitude towards life leading to higher productivity, most notably in our profession.
